I got this to replace the Vidal Sassoon clipper set I've been using for my pets, whose blades have been out of production. I figured, keep with a brand that also does human hair. I'm glad I did! I got through the coarse hairs of my corgi mix with these shears, having to stop only 3 times to let them cool down, clean, and re-oil, which is pretty standard with how thick her fur is.It's fairly quiet, and it doesn't vibrate too hard, which is nice on my carpal tunnel. There's no tension setting that I can see, but there's a note in the guide telling you about how that can damage the blade anyway, so I suppose that's ok. Replacement blades are easy to find, so that's a big plus--my local pet store had an Oster blade that fit this model. The only problem I had, which is why it doesn't get 5 stars, is that it gets hot a bit faster than my old clippers. But, when that happens, turn it off, clean and oil the blade, let it cool down, and continue, and you're... I bought this at petsmart a while back for a dog with a very heavy, very matted coat (Shep/Chow). I have to say with a pair of scissors and these clippers I help get some of the worst mats and long messes of hair out. I, however, hated the trim guides. Maybe I wasn't using them correctly, but they seemed to pop off all the time. Very sturdy clippers though, just hold them at the proper angle. |
