We have them all, the Furminator, PetZoom, tools of all sizes and shapes including shedding blades, rakes, love gloves as well as pin, bristle and slicker brushes. I have two Siberian cats with a dense undercoat of fine fur. I purchased this tool to remove some of the undercoat to help with them deal the Florida heat as well as to reduce the amount they shed around our home. The rake was especially effective at thinning the undercoat of one of my cats. She loves to be brushed by it, so she gave me more of an opportunity to use it on her. My other cat is skittish by nature and didn't allow me to brush her for more than a few seconds, so I can't tell if its lack of effectiveness is because her undercoat is different from my other cat's undercoat or if it's because she hasn't given me the opportunity to use it on her enough.I found that for a week after brushing my cat she hardly shed any fur. The rake certainly met my need! In other reviews people complained that the rake left bald spots on their animals or did not evenly remove hair.
